28 Day Water Challenge–The Results!

2014-06-010Hey guys!  I know I’m a day late with the water challenge post but things got a little off track yesterday with the blog move.  So, you get my results today!  And tomorrow will be the new Summer Series post.

Well, I did it!  Kind of.  There were definitely some not so great days but all in all the water challenge was pretty successful.  I didn’t lose any weight and besides having some more energy and fewer headaches I didn’t really notice much.  I wasn’t even going to do a side by side photo but look at that before and after!!!  Seriously, you guys, I’m in shock!  I really didn’t think my skin looked any different.  Maybe a little more tan from all the Arizona pool days but when I put those next to each other I couldn’t believe it!  Let me remind you that both of those are untouched with the exception of being cropped.  I want to go on record saying I don’t see that difference in the mirror.  Maybe I just don’t see it or maybe my skin was having a good camera day!  I’m honestly not sure.  The world may never know.  Pssst…I hope you just read that in the Tootsie Roll owls voice haha.  Now, let’s move on.

I do want to share with you guys what I did notice.

—My energy was definitely up.  Not bouncing off the walls and conquering the world kind of up but it was better.

—My headaches went way down!  Who would have thunk it?  Oh that’s right, my husband, who has been telling me for the past 12 years that I need to drink more water would have ha.

—Starting early makes a difference!  If you are a coffee drinker I recommend drinking a glass of water before you have your coffee.  And if you are going to have more than one cup of coffee have a glass of water (or at least some water) between each cup.  This is most definitely a “do as I say, not as I do” rule!  Yep, I’m a rebel.  I don’t even follow my own rules!

All in all I think this was a great challenge for me.  I drink pretty much no water normally and live in a desert.  Not a great combo.  This has definitely gotten me into a better habit of drinking enough water.  I’ll definitely continue.  I may or may not begin to try to cut soda out of my diet.  I think if I would have done that while I did the water challenge I would have lost weight no problem.  I guess I’m just not motivated yet.  But, if you are like me and are always tired, get tons of headaches, and take way to much Tylenol to get rid of those headaches I most definitely recommend you take this challenge!!  Sorry I don’t have more impressive results but I hope that I have inspired you enough that you go ahead and take the challenge, too!  28 days—3 liters of water a day.  You can do it!  If you missed the other posts here are some links so you can check out the past few weeks.  Day 1, day 8, day 15, and day 21.

28 Day Water Challenge-Week 4

It’s Monday!  If you’ve been around for the past few weeks you know what that means…28 Day Water Challenge check in day.  Today is the beginning of the fourth and final week!  I have to keep it real guys, I’ve been sucking it up.  There have been a few days this week that I didn’t drink all my water…whomp whomp whomp.  I have some how lost motivation.  I know what you’re thinking (okay, you’re probably not but go with it), I’m supposed to be the motivation!  Well, I promise you guys that this week I’ll kick ass Sea Bass!  I feel like I really can’t give an accurate update because I failed but I’ll tell you that my energy is down!  Maybe all these people who say you need to drink lots of water are on to something?  Just don’t tell my husband I said that because he is definitely one of those people who say that 😉  I promise I’ll be back next Monday with my final check in and I will be telling you all how amazing I did this week!  But for now, here is this week’s picture.

Like the past few weeks, check out my Facebook page to get the picture that Blogger didn’t so kindly make beautiful haha.  While you’re there feel free to like my page!

So, I’ll be back tomorrow with a kiddo friendly post for our Summer Series.  After that I may or may not be back for the rest of the week because this lovely little blog of mine is moving!  Yep, that’s right, she’s growing up and moving over to her own server with her very own domain name and hosting 😉  My deadline for the move is next Monday.  Hold me to this, please!  And cross your fingers that I don’t accidentally delete my whole blog!  Tech savvy, I am not!  It’s going to be a stressful time filled with lots of wine I’m sure!  I’ll keep you guys updated on the move!

If you missed the previous posts you can check them out here!  Week 1, Week 2, Week 3.  Thanks for stopping by!

28 Day Water Challenge-Week 3

Hey guys!  So, did you decide to do the 28 day water challenge with me?  If so, how is it going?  It’s going okay over here.  I had a hard time last week keeping up with my 3 liters of water.  Tuesday, my little guy had surgery.  I did a pretty bad job that day keeping up but the rest of the week I did a little better.  I found myself chugging a few glasses at night to get to my 7 glass a day goal.  I have to say I don’t really feel that different.  I do have more energy so that is good.  But I think my skin is looking a little better!  That’s definitely a plus.  Now if I just didn’t get so weird when it was picture time haha.  So, without further ado, here is the awkward pic of the week!

Once again my picture magically looks Photo Shopped once I put it up here.  But, go to my Facebook page and you can see the real deal since I can’t figure out how to fix it here.  I’m still weighing 154lb.  Since it hasn’t changed at all I don’t really see it happening this week.  It’s fine though.  I did the challenge to try and help my energy levels which it is.  Losing a few pounds would have just been a fun bonus!

My goal for this week is to be better about spreading out my water during the day instead of drinking a bunch at night.  I’ll be back next Monday with another check in.  If you missed the previous posts you can go here and here for weeks 1 and 2.

Thanks for stopping by and don’t forget to come back tomorrow to check out the newest “Summer Series” post.  We had fun with a cardboard box!  See you then!

28 Day Water Challenge-Week 2

Hey peeps!  Who’s ready for my second awkward selfie in the 28 day water challenge?  Don’t know what I’m talking about?  Go back here and read all about the 28 Day Water Challenge…and remember I would love for you to join in on Facebook.  But now back to the weird picture…

Once again, my picture looks better on here for some reason.  To get the real deal check out my Facebook page.

This is just a quick update post to let you guys know how the challenge is going.  So here’s the deets!  I definitely don’t feel like a new person.  But, with that being said, I do see a noticeable difference in my energy levels.  I’m not at 100%.  Honestly, I’m probably not even up to “normal people” energy levels.  But I’m fine with that seeing as I’m only a week in.  Also, no weight lose yet.  I’m still at 154lb.  And I don’t really see a difference in my skin.  But for the first week I’m more than happy with my results.  It’s not very hard for me to drink all the water but my water bill is probably gonna double from the amount of times I have to flush the toilet a day.  Since we’re all friends here I’ve got to say, if you do this challenge you will pee.  A ton!!!  It’s out of control.  But at least now I have extra energy so I don’t mind walking to the bathroom 47 times a day 😉

Before I go I want to address some of the things that people have mentioned about the challenge.

1. I was told I should watch my electrolytes.  I have to admit I haven’t researched that yet.  I have been drinking other stuff so I think I should be okay.  But, YOU should definitely research before you start your challenge.  And that brings me to number 2…

2. I am not drinking only water.  I wasn’t very clear about that last week.  I’m a coffee and soda drinker.  I know, I know.  Soda is terrible.  Or, as I say, terribly delicious.  Yes, I’m a fan.  When I wake up I have a cup or two of coffee.  After that it’s on to water.  Once I’ve had half of my water for the day I let myself have some of my beloved Coke.  Then it’s back to finish all my water for the day.

Hope that clears things up a little bit.  So did you decide to do the challenge?  If you did share your pictures on my Facebook.  If you already follow me, you saw that my little man is having surgery tomorrow morning, which means I won’t be posting anything else this week.  But keep an eye out on Facebook because I will be sharing some of my favorite past posts there with you guys all week.

Thanks for stopping by.  See you all next week for my Week 3 update!

28 Day Water Challenge

Hello boys and girls!  So, let me just start off by telling you this post is a little awkward for me.  Why you ask?  Well I am the self proclaimed “Least Photogenic Girl in the World”.  Most of the time I look like a normal human being but for some reason whenever a camera comes out I turn into a complete weirdo.  It’s like how Ricky Bobby doesn’t know what to do with his hands.  Except for it’s my hands, body, face…the list goes on haha.  So please just excuse me if over the course of the next four weeks I’m a little on the weird side.  Now that I’ve made it even more awkward let’s move on.
So what is the 28 Day Water Challenge?  While I was scrolling through my Facebook feed this morning I saw a post about a woman who challenged herself to drink 3 liters of water a day.  It caught my eye because her before and after photo’s were amazing!  If you are interested in checking it out, which I definitely recommend, you can go here.  Her before and after photo’s were almost enough to make me want to challenge myself but reading the article really sealed the deal for me.  Mainly the headaches part.  I have headaches almost daily.  It blows.  And I know that water helps because when I make myself drink a lot of water I do feel better.  I wanted to try her amounts and time though and see how I feel.  Let me share an embarrassing photo with you guys.

Do you see that sexy puffy eye?  It is affectionately known as my wonk eye.  As unattractive as it is, it is actually caused by a kind of serious problem.  I know everybody has probably heard of thyroid disease.  I’m one of the lucky people affecting by this fun problem.  In 2007 I was diagnosed with Graves Disease, which is to blame for that pretty eye of mine.  Besides the eye though, it causes tons of problems.  I usually get lucky and get most of the symptoms when my levels are off.  Yay me.  Right now, my levels are definitely off.  I know this because I am exhausted most of the time.  Like have to force myself to get up and do stuff exhausted.  I’m always short of breathe even if I’m just sitting down watching tv.  I have a hard time sleeping even though I’m so tired.  And I get a headache almost daily.  I am going to try and see if this challenge helps any of those problems.  If nothing else, I really hope it helps with the energy.  I’m a stay at home mom with 3 kids.  During summer break.  I need energy!!  So this is how this is all going to go down.

1.  I will drink 14 cups of water a day.  That’s a little over the other lady’s 3 liters.  I have some plastic cups with ridges and I measured how much water they hold.  I can fit 2 cups of water in them so I will be drinking 7 cups a day.

2.  I won’t be changing anything else.  Diet will remain the same and I won’t be going on any meds.

3.  I will be taking a picture every Monday and updating everyone here.

4.  I will fill you guys in on my weight each week.  I’m not sure if I will lose anyway weight but I am going to track it.  Today’s weight is 154lb.

Here is my day 1 picture.

DSC03396

I feel a little like a fraud because my picture looks like it did when I uploaded it (I did edit the photo with words and a border, nothing else) on my computer, but when I put it on the blog it all of a sudden looks edited.  Trust me, my skin does not look all glow-y haha.  I will upload the picture on my Facebook page and hopefully it will look like the original.

Before I go I just want to say that I will be seeing a doctor for my thyroid.  Since it’s a specialist it always takes a while.  I am in no way saying you should try this to try and cure any medical problems you may have.  If you think there is anything wrong with you go see a doctor!  I’m going to.  I’m just doing this to see how I feel in the mean time.

And one more thing.  My pictures will be taken every Monday, in the same spot, and I will look the same.  I hate before and after pictures when the before is hair up, no make up on, and looking angry at the world and then the after is full hair and makeup with a huge smile.  No no guys!  I keep it real.  My hair is in a bun about 95% of my life and I usually have on a little bit of eye makeup.  This will stay the same for all 4 pictures.  I would love for you guys to join in!  If you are interested please share your pictures on my Facebook page.  And feel free to “like” it while you’re there!  Have a great day!
