Good morning guys and welcome to the blog! Today I have a really fun and easy project! The kiddos can even get in on this one, although mine didn’t haha. When I was making these they had their friends over so crafting with mom was pretty much out of the question ha! What is it that I’m sharing you ask? Oh, you didn’t ask? Let’s pretend you did, shall we? I made these super cute magnetic picture frames!
Since we moved into our new house I have been slowly working on decorating. When you are cheap and crafty, you DIY. When you DIY things go a lot slower than they would if you just went out and bought everything. But that’s okay! If you follow me on Instagram you may have seen the gallery wall I put together for my babes after they got their new bunk beds from grandma and grandpa! If you don’t follow me I will still show you the gallery wall but you should definitely be friends with me on IG!
So let me first say I am obviously no photographer! I mean honesty how do you photograph something like this haha? But bad photog skills aside, I’m loving their gallery wall! I showed you guys how I made the butteryfly art, coffee filter dresses, and typography print here. The gazelles are garage sale finds for $2, woot woot! They were plain brown and pretty ugly until they got a makeover with some spray paint. The born together, friends forever picture was just vinyl I cut out with my silhouette and put onto a page I painted when my kiddos and I were using water colors. I made the yarn pom pom garland for Valentine’s day. The picture of them in the bottom left corner is just a plain frame that I modge podged scrap book paper onto and the narwahl is string art that we made when we went to visit our besties last summer! Now that you have the run down of everything let’s get to the frames. Do we even really call them frames? Who knows, let’s just go with it.
- 1/4″x2″x48″ hobby board (I use these from Home Depot. They’re usually in a rolling cart near all of the 1x lumber)
- Craft Paint
Cut your boards to size. I cut mine at 8.5″ but I should have printed the photos first and got my measurements from the pictures. My boards are a little to long so I have white on either side of the pictures.
Paint your boards. I chose to only paint the outsides because you wouldn’t be able to see the insides. If you aren’t lazy like me paint both sides!
Attach your magnets with hot glue. I have a little disclaimer to make. My magnets kind of sucked and weren’t strong enough so I just hot glued the pictures to them haha. You can either add more magnets or maybe try to get some stronger ones. Mine were just a really cheap pack that I found in the kids craft aisle at Walmart.
Hot glue your ribbon to the inside of the back top piece.
That’s it folks! Now you just put in your pictures and hang them up! I got my hooks from a vendor at a market here in AZ called Junk in the Trunk! I love how this whole wall has come together.
And I may be a little biased but those babes are kind of the cutest things I’ve ever seen! I just wanna bite them!!
One last thing before I go. I saw this project originally on Facebook on one of those cool little videos that everyone is posting nowadays. If it was your video please let me know so I can give you the credit you deserve!
Come back tomorrow because my friends Teal Driftwood will be back tomorrow with a really awesome giveaway for you guys!! Thanks for stopping by!
